Make Plans to Attend DTS Software's SHARE New Orleans Presentations by CTO Steve Pryor and System Engineer Jerry Spencer
If you're attending SHARE New Orleans, check out presentations from award-winning presenters Steve Pryor and Jerry Spencer. Both presentations will be available on demand to conference attendees unable to attend the live sessions.
Also, be sure to stop by our booth (#325) to visit with z/OS storage management experts. Steve and Jerry will be available in booth to answer your storage management questions. DTS is participating in Passport to Prizes and has some other surprises, including an updated version of one of our most requested resources - the DTS Software z/OS Pocket Reference Guide!
There's still time to register for the conference. If you're unable to attend, don't worry! We have a fantastic alternative for you – explore our on-demand webinars, where you can access presentations covering similar topics at your convenience.

Disk (DASD) space is one of the most critical resources in any z/OS installation. As a result of more than 50 years of evolution, however, the rules, requirements, and restrictions for allocating and z/OS disk datasets can be remarkably arcane and complex. Disk space requirements and limits differ depending on dataset format (partitioned, sequential, extended, or striped), dataset characteristics (blksize, encryption, compression), SPACE specification in JCL or data class, and architectural restrictions (extent count, maximum size), as well as many other details. This complexity leads inevitably to confusion, poor space utilization, and eventually, application abends. What's a programmer to do? In this session we'll discuss the history and intricacies of the disk allocation process, the causes and remedies (and prevention) of out-of-space errors, and how to get quick information about current disk space status.
When: Thursday, August 17 | 8 - 9 a.m.
Where: Hyatt Regency New Orleans| Room: Strand 12B
Speaker: Steve Pryor, Chief Technology Officer
Audience Level: Intermediate
In this session, Jerry will expand on the workflow knowledge he shared in his award-winning session, “z/OSMF Workflows for the Baffled Sysprog” from SHARE Atlanta.
Follow the journey of a seasoned z/OS programmer and explore multiple workflows, variables, and users while discovering the wonders of z/OSMF. From automation to dependencies to assigning steps, see some of what you can do with z/OSMF. Whether you attended the Atlanta session or not, don't miss this session for practical insights into maximizing z/OSMF's potential in your mainframe environment.
