Understanding z/OS File Transfer
One of the most common tasks performed in any system is moving files from one location to another. In z/OS systems, file transfer mechanisms have unique considerations because the format and use of z/OS datasets often differs from that of ordinary non-mainframe files. Performance and security issues in z/OS also pose unique challenges.
In this webinar we discuss file transfer mechanisms in z/OS including FTP, SFTP and FTPS, and options for moving z/OS-specific datasets - sequential, partitioned, and VSAM - efficiently and effectively. We also talk a bit about important FTP settings in z/OS Communications Server and the use of FTP exits.
