What? You Mean There's Space Left Over?

Understanding DASD Idle Space

Join us Tuesday, January 28, at 11:00 AM ET for our complimentary educational webinar What? You Mean There's Space Left Over? Understanding DASD Idle Space.

Disk space allocation and use in z/OS differs significantly from other systems, and is often confusing for the new or non-mainframe user. In many installations, datasets occupy significant space, large amounts of which may not actually be used. This month, we'll discuss the DASD space allocation process with an eye to understanding used space, idle or 'free' space, overallocation, underallocation, and how to find unused space in datasets and make it available for use.
